Chamber Orchestra Visits Kenmare

Kerry's very own Kerry Chamber Orchestra in residence is to play at the newest venue in the county, Carnegie Arts Centre, Kenmare. And the admission to the concert is absolutely free and all are welcome! Tickets are sure to be snapped up quickly to avoid dissapointment please call 064 48701.

The concert will take place on Saturday, December 13th at 8pm ane will include Kerry Chamber Orchestra with Guests Frederike and Jildau Laumans (Recorders and Flute) and
Aisling O' Carroll (Soprano), winner of the prestigious Killarney Rotary Club Young Musician of the Future 2008.

The concert will feature works by Mozart, Handel, Purcell, Charpentier, Sammartini and Grieg

School and Community Workshops, Thursday, December 10th commencing 10am.

An exciting series of workshops and concerts takes place in Kenmare in the next week in the company of the Kerry Chamber Orchestra. The series marks the first visit to the recently opened Carnegie Arts Centre by Kerry's professional music ensemble.

Kerry Chamber Orchestra's members are professional musicians who are resident in Kerry and perform and teach in association with Kerry School of Music. The orchestra is directed by Aidan O' Carroll and performs a wide repertoire from the Baroque to the 20th century often in tandem with the Kerry Chamber Choir. The Orchestra is augmented by Woodwind, Brass and Percussion every January for the Annual Kerry Symphony Orchestra Concert at Siamsa Tire Theatre.

Kerry County Council Steinway D piano will also transfer from its home in Kerry School of Music to the Carnegie Centre for the series of workshops and concerts.

The Chamber Orchestra's Education and Outreach programme which is supported by Kerry County Council has seen introductory workshops in strings and woodwind delivered in schools throughout Kerry over the past several months as well as a programme of high profile concerts in alternative venues such as the O' Connell Memorial Church, Cahersiveen, St. John's Arts Centre, Listowel, Castleisland Library and St. Mary's Church of Ireland, Killarney and Siamsa Tire Theatre, Tralee. The aim of the Education and Outreach programme is to encourage the study of orchestral instruments and to provide regular, high quality performances of chamber and symphonic music throughout the county.

The programme for the coming year includes Handel's Messiah (250th Anniversary performance) in April with the Kerry Chamber Choir, Liszt Piano Concerto (Soloist: Santa Ignacs) and world premieres of works by Siobhan Cleary and young Kerry-born composer Christopher Lynch.

Admission to the concert is absolutely free and all are welcome.
